This is Mat Ali Jamali. He has a message to the world: stay at the Gurah Bungalows. He specifically instructed us to tell everyone we know.
I don’t see why not! Everybody should be given the opportunity to enjoy the hospitality he provides. Oh, those cavernous mahogany coffins of rooms – rooms that haven’t been cleaned since 1999. The service, the wonderful self-service where you are advised to fix your own light bulbs should you wish to perform your ablutions in a lit space. Ah. Ali Jamali. You truly run a beautiful place. And the food you cook: rice and cauliflower swimming around in oil. Sublime! We also enjoyed the way you sat opposite us when we ate, looking at us under those hooded eyelids, breathing heavily but with long pauses. Sometimes we wouldn’t know whether you were dead or asleep, but without fail you would wake up and launch another sales pitch! We were in awe. Especially when you poured yourself generous helpings of our beer.
So, please stay at the Gurah Bungalow, people. Ali Jamali commands it.
