If you checked out the contents of my backpack you would find a 3 to 1 ratio of tank tops to t-shirts. I packed this way with Indonesia in mind. I figured it would be the perfect place for the tank tops; a less is more kind of a climate. I couldn’t have been more wrong.
Indonesia’s population is 88% Muslim (I’m actually listening to the mosque call to prayer as I’m typing this). Tank tops are seen as improper dress. Shoulders should be covered, at the very least. Well, I obviously had to bulk up on t-shirts when we arrived – which lead to the purchase of the Strawberry stunner you see above.
It’s really pretty awful, but I’m giving the locals one less reason to make fun of me. There is plenty of other material they have to work with, believe me.
