The Norbulingka Institute was founded in 1988 as a haven for Tibetan Arts and Culture. For those Tibetans that are born and grow up in exile, the Institute serves as a link to the land of their parents and ancestors. The Institute is also a school that preserves and develops traditional Tibetan arts: woodcarving, statue-making and embroidery.
Aside from being an Arts Institution, it is also a wonderfully beautiful place. We like it so much that we are going to stay in its guest house for a couple of nights before we forge ahead to Amritsar. It looks like a good place to reload, and to review the status of our writing projects.
