    The Cost of Annapurna Trekking

Once upon a time I was an accountant. I wouldn’t say I was particularly good with numbers (all accountants know that’s what calculators are for) but I have to admit that I liked messing around with spreadsheets.

    Fine, I’m a nerd.

But that’s neither here, nor there. As a throw-back to my accounting days, I put together a spreadsheet that details the cost of our Jomsom area and Annapurna Sanctuary trek. The costs listed are for two people on a self-guided trek (which, by the way, is the way to go on a trek in that area – guides really aren’t necessary).  The total time trekking was 12 days.

You can check out my fine rainbow spreadsheet by clicking  here.

To learn more about the trek, you can check out our posts for Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4, Day 5, Day 6, Day 7, Day 8, Day 9, Day 10, Day 11 & 12.

I’m going to Nepal and will be hiking (the Circuit as well as maybe the Sanctuary) in less than a month. This spreadsheet is awesome, as were the other Annapurna posts . If you don’t mind me asking, though, your food expenses seem quite a bit higher than what I normally see. Is the deliciousness of beer reflected in those numbers? Or did dhal bat simply grow old?
      Thanks,
      Ahimsa

WEll, we actually abstained from the beer until almost the last day. What we treated ourselves to were many pots of tea. They add up – you’ll see. Have a great trek!

You know the term, “fly by the seat of your pants?” Well, that's been our philosophy for most of our adult lives – before and after meeting, falling in love and marrying. We're now taking that idea on a 14 month round-the-world trip. Follow us as we share the good, the bad and the downright nasty of life on the road.
