Bhamo, We Hardly Knew Ya’

We only have an afternoon and a night to spend here in Bhamo, in transit between Myitkyina and Katha. After a quick walk around town, we can only conclude that it is a shame that we don’t have more time – it does seem like a nice place to while away a couple of days. Rumor has it that there’s plenty of day-trip worthy stuff around. So if you ever find yourself in this neck of the woods: do plan for a couple of days at least. There’s a ruined Shan city called Sampanago just around the corner, the Irrawaddy is beautiful as ever, and the local market looks like a doozie.
