Without a government-issued permit, we’re not allowed any further north than Myitkyina. So despite loving what we were see in northern Myanmar, we’re now forced to make our way south.
Wishing we had more time here (the visa is a measly 28-dayer), but unable to avoid the impending departure date, we now have to move at a very fast pace. The next three days will be spent in transit to Mandalay. If the travel-bug luck is on our side, we won’t be stuck anywhere else and the next two weeks can be spent enjoying this fascinating country.
