No matter how well-traveled, cosmopolitan and multinational you become, there‘s always going to be one place that feels more like home than any other. In my case, that place is Sangis in Northern Sweden.
Growing up, I was proud to know that Sangis was the site of the northernmost known Viking burial site in Sweden. I thought it was pretty cool to come from a thousand year old village. Just recently, a team of archeologists found a primitive steelworks just north of Sangis. It has been dated to the year 300 BC, making it an early hub for steel working in Northern Europe.
More excavations are underway, and I can’t wait to hear about what they’ll find next. A couple of pyramids perhaps?
